I was commissioned by video designer Nina Dunn to work on a new piece for the Durham Lumiere Festival 2017.
I worked closely with Nina and sound designers John Del’ Nero & Sebastian Frost to create a spectacular new work saluting the extraordinary achievement of architect Daniel Libeskind’s building for the Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics. The music was composed by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
I was honored to meet the Ogden physics team, who gave us a crash course on how the universe works and showed us some of the universe simulations they have created. The visuals I created feature a section which showcases some of their work, and is then followed by my own response using particle simulations that ebb and flow around the structure of the building.
It was a technically challenging piece, and I utilised every tool at my disposal. Software used included 3Ds Max, Vray, Pflow, Cinema 4D, X-Particles, Cycles 4D, Octane Render, Quixel, Photoshop & After Effects.
